Person dies after being hit by vehicle on Christmas night in Auckland

A person has died after being struck by a vehicle in Auckland on Christmas night.
Police say the incident happened just before 10.30pm on Saturday, on Rosamund Avenue, New Windsor.
The person died at the scene. Police said an investigation was under way to establish the circumstances.

The death brings the road toll during this year’s Christmas holidays to four.
On Christmas day, a motorcyclist died following a serious crash in Hamilton.
Another person died in a crash between a truck carrying cheese, and a car, on State Highway 1, just south of Dunedin.
On Christmas Eve, 46-year-old Shane Oakley Thompson died in a Taupō crash in the early hours of Thursday morning, after he was struck by a car.
