A rare “blood micromoon” has lit up the night skies above much of Aotearoa.
A near-total lunar eclipse on Friday night caused the phenomenon.
The Moon appeared to have a reddish hue for a while, once the vast majority of its surface was in the shadow of the Earth.
Here’s how the November 2021 blood micromoon looked from across NZ.
