New Hyundai Tucson spied during testing
Wednesday, 9 September 2020
With its global reveal less than a week away, Hyundai continues to offer glimpses of its fourth generation Tucson SUV.
The latest photos show a partially camouflaged Tucson during the final phase of testing and quality assurance in the Austrian Alps, including towing tests on demanding mountain roads.
On the Grossglockner mountain, Hyundai’s engineers took the Tucson on a difficult route to test the vehicle’s behaviour while towing a trailer uphill, downhill and around corners.
As well as development in Hyundai testing centres, the new Tucson has been fine-tuned on roads across the globe with particular emphasis on its body rigidity, NVH (noise vibration harshness) characteristics on a wide range of road surfaces and performance of its four-wheel-drive system.

The European phase of testing has included accelerated durability tests and dynamic testing on the most demanding race track in the world, the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
Public-road testing throughout Europe has included cold weather testing in Sweden and hot weather testing in the south of Spain.
The fresh Tucson is the fourth generation of Hyundai’s best-selling SUV. It is the first Tucson to be developed under Hyundai’s new design identity, “Sensuous Sportiness”.
More than 7 million Tucsons have been sold globally since the first generation was launched in 2004. In New Zealand the Tucson is Hyundai’s top-selling model and the new generation will go on sale here during 2021.
The digital world premiere of the Tucson will take place on September 14.
