This is why you really should regularly clean your car

This dog-transport-mobile is a great example of why regularly cleaning your car is a good idea. Well, the inside, at least.

This Ford Mondeo lived a hard life of shuttling dogs around but it looks like it also dealt with a somewhat grubby owner. I suppose if you’re committing to the dog transport lifestyle, you may as well go all in.

There’s dog hair, crumbs, rubbish, dirt – pretty much whatever you can think of and some – strewn about the interior of the Ford. Thankfully, the folks at Autoshine Cars aren’t against getting their hands dirty and shared this remarkable transformation online.

Now, this isn't the sort of thing we would normally report on, but the transformation here is just so absolutely stunning that we couldn’t believe it. In fact, we probably wouldn’t have even tried to tackle this properly filthy Mondeo.

Okay, so it is a massively long video and if you don’t have close to 30 minutes to waste watching a car get groomed, then watching the filth-fest and the start and skipping to the stunning results at the end is worth it.

Cleaning the exterior looks to be a pretty uneventful affair but diving inside takes some guts. After some vacuuming time-lapse video, the carpets were steam cleaned and shampooed enough to kill even the most resilient bacteria.

Follow it all up with a standard spray, wipe and polish and the Mondeo is looking – incredibly – like new. Although we have to wonder if the sheer amount of money a groomer would charge to do this sort of work would actually be worth spending on an old Mondeo…
