Kimberlee Ritchie: ‘I’m a classic first-time mum’
Sunday, 19 July 2026
The sports broadcaster answers some of Sunday’s ultimate conversation-starters.
Who: Kimberlee Ritchie
What: Sports broadcaster, new mum, reluctant runner.
Question 37 of 101: When do you feel most stressed?
I’m a classic first-time mum, so whenever something random crops up with my son. I couldn’t tell you how many times “is it normal … ?” has been typed into Google in our house. Or when I’m running late for something– I pride myself on punctuality.
Question 41 of 101: What’s the best thing you can cook?
My husband would say lasagne, my son would say anything with avocado. I reckon it’s a tie between my mum’s wonton soup and banoffee pie.

Question 68 of 101: Beach or bush?
I grew up in Taranaki so naturally I love both … but I can’t go past the beach. You can’t beat the sense of tranquility on a peaceful day, or the sense of awe when the waves are crashing.
Question 89 of 101: What do you wish you enjoyed more than you do?
Running. I wish I was one of those people who could just run for fun. Alas, I do not particularly enjoy it and must force myself out the door.
Question 7 of 101: Do you have a motto or quote that you live by?
“It’s just a moment in time”. I use it to make sure I appreciate the good times, and for perspective in the challenging ones. It can also be applied no matter the level of depth … Right now, I’m reminding myself constantly that our long-haul flight with a 1-year-old will only be a moment in time!
Kimberlee Ritchie is part of Sky's coverage of the Commonwealth Games (July 23-August 2) on Sky Sport and Three.
