150 days out for Te Kaha: Christchurch’s new stadium build enters final phase

Wednesday, 19 November 2025

A new project update shows hospitality suites, food outlets and seating nearing completion as Christchurch's One NZ Stadium counts down to its April 2026 opening.

The countdown to opening day at Christchurch’s new stadium is officially on, with key hospitality, seating and premium spaces nearing completion as the project enters its final 150 days.

In a newly released video, project director Kent Summerfield said hospitality suites, food outlets and permanent seating were rapidly taking shape ahead of One NZ Stadium at Te Kaha’s April 2026 opening.

“The individual food vendors will complete their fit-out and get set up next year, ahead of opening in April,” Summerfield said.

The venue will house 32 food and beverage outlets serving items from 25 local vendors. Most will be positioned around the level one concourse, which has uninterrupted views of the pitch.

“This design means people won’t miss a minute of the action when stepping inside for a burger, pie or refreshing beverage,” Summerfield said.

The video also steps inside two west-stand hospitality suites: the Ōtautahi Lounge on level one and the 1881 Club on level three.

“People will be able to sit back and relax in here or move around onto the terraces to get closer to the action,” Summerfield said.

In the stands, crews continue installing the stadium’s 25,000 permanent seats.

Concrete has now been poured for the Field Club at the northern end along Hereford St. The premium 400-guest venue will feature its own entrance, a bar and a variety of seating layouts.

Both the seating installation and Field Club build are due to finish by the end of the year.

“There’s only about 150 days between now and the stadium being filled with spectators for the Super Rugby Super Round,” Summerfield said.

The project remains on budget and on track to open in April 2026.
