One person has died following a serious crash in Canterbury’s Prebbleton on Boxing Day.

On Wednesday morning, police confirmed one person died after the two-car crash on Birchs Rd, south of Christchurch that happened about 6pm on Boxing Day.

Two people were also taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash closed the road for several hours, seeing diversions implemented at Leadleys Rd and Robinsons Rd.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
