Rockers Foo Fighters first international booking for new Christchurch stadium
Wednesday, 18 February 2026
US rockers Foo Fighters have been announced as the first international band booked to play Christchurch’s brand new stadium - alongside a date in Auckland.
Following their January 2024 gigs in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will return to New Zealand in January next year, as part of an Australasian tour.
Later this year, Foo Fighters will play November concerts in Australia followed by the January gigs in New Zealand - Christchurch on January 19 and Auckland on January 22 - then a final date in Perth.
New Zealand support acts for both Aotearoa shows have been announced, with Wellington band Dartz and Dunedin’s Seek Help! playing the Christchurch gig and two Auckland bands - Dick Move and Ringlets taking to the Western Springs stage.
Christchurch’s One New Zealand Stadium is due to open in April, with Kiwi acts Six60 and Synthony headlining its opening musical show on May 16.
Last week, organisers of the Once in a Lifetime show announced all 37,000 tickets had been purchased for the May event.
The Foo Fighters line-up for the Australasian concerts will be Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Ilan Rubin - who joined the band as drummer last year. Rubin replaced Josh Freese, who began performing with the band following the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.
At the end of Foo Fighters’ 2024 gig in Christchurch, Grohl promised fans the band would be back.
Tickets for Foo Fighters’ Christchurch and Auckland concerts are available in pre-sales from Friday with general public release tickets on sale from February 25. Information at frontiertouring.com/foofighters and tickets via axs.com/nz.
