The Government has chipped in $100,000 to Wellington’s flooding mayoral relief fund, taking the total to about $350,000.
The initial $150,000 fund was launched by Wellington mayor Andrew Little after devastating floods swept over a section of the city early last Monday morning, leaving some homes over head height in water while other parts of the city were damp but unscathed.
Philip Sutton was killed and found in the debris of flood waters in Karori.
The initial fund of $150,000 got $100,000 Government money added to it by Emergency Management Minister Mark Mitchell on Friday. He also announced $50,000 for the Ruapehu District Council’s mayoral relief fund after flooding in Ohura.
