Te Toi Mahana reviewing rents but unsustainable increases 'highly unlikely'

The board chair of a Wellington public housing organisation has assured tenants that a rent review will be unlikely to result in “unsustainable” rent increases.

Andrew Turner, of Te Toi Mahana, said a rent review of tenants was being done by management and it would be reported to the board in December.

In response to tenants’ concerns of rent increases, Turner said management were “highly-unlikely” to recommend “unsustainable rent increases” and, if they did, the board would be equally-unlikely to accept them.

Te Toi Mahana has taken over Wellington City Council’s social housing.
