Monday, 6 July 2026

Is that Mickey Mouse or Kermit the Frog leading the line for England at the Fifa World Cup?

Social media users were quick to get a jab in at England captain Harry Kane after he was left all-but speechless after his team’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Mexico.

Kane, who scored from the spot and later gave away a penalty himself, did his best to fulfil his post-match duties and speak with the media.

'It was a crazy game. We had to fight and we had to find something. I've just been singing, I can't really talk,' a raspy Kane told the BBC.

“The occasion, the team, everything against us, we found a way. Incredible, unbelievable support. [I'm] speechless,” Kane said.

The reporter could be heard telling him to “go and rest that voice; rest up, Harry,' as the striker left with a smile, rubbing his throat.

The number of tweets including ‘Harry Kane’ and ‘Mickey Mouse’ or ‘Kermit’ spiked after the interview.
