All Whites and Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood has tied the knot with long time partner Emma Lovell at one of Italy’s most exclusive luxury hotels.

Around the same time that the All Whites opened their Oceania Nations Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over the Solomon Islands in Vanuatu on Tuesday, the new Mr and Mrs Wood were married at a five star hotel on a cliff overlooking the Amalfi Coast.

Wood, who proposed in Spain back in January, has just finished an EPL season with Nottingham Forest where he scored 14 goals – matching his best haul with Burnley in the 2019-20 season.

The couple were married in a former 11th-century palace, turned hotel, that is perched on a cliff that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Wood’s best man at the glamorous wedding was fellow footballer Tommy Smith. The pair were All Whites teammates at the 2010 World Cup.

Emma Wood (nee Lovell) works as a solicitor in London but is understood to be from Nottingham.

The English Premier League star had scheduled the nuptials during the only month he has off as a professional footballer, taking care to avoid a clash with the FIFA international window that runs from June 3 to 11.

Wood won’t be joining the All Whites for the reminder of the Oceania Nations Cup but Smith will head to Vanuatu to link with his New Zealand team-mates, once his best man duties are complete.
