Britomart train station reopens to commuters following evacuation

Waitematā (Britomart) train station has reopened again for commuters after it was evacuated earlier due to a fire alarm.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand had confirmed to Stuff an alarm had been activated at the station.

An Auckland Transport push alert said the station was temporarily closed until further notice due to the evacuation.

Just after 9am, AT advised commuters via a push alert that the station had reopened.

They said there will be some delays and cancellations while services return to normal.

Commuters should check live departures and customer information displays on platforms for up-to-date information.

This is the second time in five days that Waitematā station has been closed after it was closed on Sunday as a precaution due to a nearby vegetation fire.
