Northland motorists can expect delays with roadworks through March

Motorists in Northland could face delays and detours as Waka Kotahi carries out major roadworks.
In a statement, Waka Kotahi warned motorway users to expect several disruptions this month, and to plan around potentially long detours.
The busy March of roading projects comes after the summer plans were delayed due to weather and the Covid-19 pandemic.
The road works include overnight asphalting on State Highway 1 between Warkworth and Puhoi, between March 13 and March 20, excluding Friday and Saturday nights. Stop/go traffic management and a temporary speed limit of 30kmh would be in place.

On March 20, Pohuehue viaduct would be closed from 7pm until 5am, with a long detour between Silverdale and Warkworth on State Highway 16.
At the site of a large slip from July 2020 on State Highway 1 through Mangamuka Gorge, the final asphalting job would be on March 14 to 16.
The road would be closed from 8.30am until 4pm with manual traffic control on either side of the closure to manage peak hour traffic.
A long detour would be in place via State Highway 10.
Other works road users should be aware of in March include:
SH1 Brynderwyn Hill – upcoming asphalting will require a stop/go operation on the entire south side of the hill. Suggested detours are northbound via SH12 and Paparoa Oakleigh Road and southbound via Waipu, Mangawhai and Kaiwaka.
SH1 between Whangarei and Kawakawa - resealing works taking place in multiple locations
SH10 at Kareponia - shoulder-widening works continue
SH14 at Tangiteroria - pavement reconstruction is underway
SH10 north of Waipapa - pavement reconstruction is underway
SH12 at Dargaville - sealing and re-painting of some intersections in late-March
SH16 near Wellsford - road repairs are currently underway and will continue into next week, followed by resealing works for three days in late-March
