Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck in Hawke's Bay town

A pedestrian has died after being hit by truck in Ōtāne, about 50km from Napier.

In a statement, police said the 38-year-old woman was struck by a truck and trailer heading south on State Highway 2 at around 4.30pm.

The serious crash unit is examining the scene.

Police are interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed the crash.
