Police, Oranga Tamariki conclude four days of interviews at Gloriavale

Police and Oranga Tamariki staff have been interviewing people at Gloriavale on the West Coast in relation to alleged child sex abuse.

A significant number of people have been interviewed by police and Oranga Tamariki in connection to alleged child sexual abuse at Gloriavale.

West Coast area commander Inspector Jacqui Corner said the agencies had concluded four days of interviews at the isolated Christian community.

“A significant number of community members were spoken with in relation to a range of alleged offending, including sexual offences.”

Further inquiries were required and police were not in a position to release further details at this time, she said.

“However, we can confirm police are undertaking a comprehensive review of Gloriavale matters.”

Police were also working with former community members who had raised concerns with them.

Stuff understands they were interviewing girls at the community.

Police previously interviewed several boys at the community, which resulted in charges.
