Seven firefighting crews and two helicopters were used to battle a bush fire on Sunday near Takaka in Golden Bay.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said the fire, which covered an area of 250m by 250m, was in bush and scrub off Abel Tasman Drive, near Ligar Bay.
Fenz was alerted to the blaze about 11.50am. The fire was extinguished and the last crew left the scene about 3.30pm, the spokeswoman said.
News of the Golden Bay incident came as crews battled multiple blazes in the South Island including one fire that destroyed many homes at Lake Ohau.
