Earthquake felt in Nelson

Nelson had a small shake on Monday morning, owing to a 5.2-magnitude earthquake.

Geonet reports the quake had a depth of 102km and was centred 20km south-west of Motueka.

It was felt at 8:44am and was initially listed as being a 4.9 magnitude before it it was upgraded. There were more than 2000-felt reports logged with Geonet.

In the Nelson Mail newsroom in Nelson's central city, desks shuddered as the light quake rolled through. 

There have been no reports of any damage or injuries.
