One person has died after crash involving two trucks in Tokoroa

The road just south of Tokoroa was reopened overnight.

One person has died after a truck crash on State Highway One in Tokoroa.

The crash, involving two large trucks, happened on State Highway 1, south of Tokoroa near Galaxy Rd, at 3.55pm on Thursday. One of the drivers was initially trapped in the vehicle.

The driver of the other truck suffered minor injuries and police said that they were taken to Waikato Hospital in a moderate condition.

New Zealand Transport Agency have said SH1 has now been reopened between Galaxy Rd and Campbell Rd just south of Tokoroa.

The road was closed and detours put in place until 1.30am Friday.
