Friday, 29 March 2019
A person escaped a single-storey house with minor burns after it went up in flames before sunrise.
Fire and Emergency NZ was called to the blaze in Tokoroa shortly before 6am on Friday, northern communications shift manager Murray Bannister said.
The house was well alight when local firefighters arrived to the blaze on Dalmeny St, joined later by Putaruru fire crews.
Crews managed to extinguish it before it spread.
One person was treated for minor burns, Bannister said.
A fire investigator has been called to investigate the cause of the fire.
