Motorcyclist seriously injured after crashing into bank

A motorcyclist has been flown to hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a dirt bank in Canterbury.
Police were called about 5.25pm on Thursday to the crash on Domett Rd, part of State Highway 1, north of the Hurunui River Bridge.
A police spokeswoman said a motorcyclist had crashed into a dirt bank. A helicopter was dispatched, she said.
A St John spokesman said a person was transported to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries.
