One person has won $22m in Wednesday's Lotto draw.

A Central Otago player has scooped up more than $22m after winning Wednesday's Powerball, in the largest ever Lotto win in the South Island.

The lucky winner bought their ticket online and won $22,333,333. 

It is the largest prize ever won in the South Island, and is also the largest prize ever won online.

The previous biggest South Island win was a $22.2m prize won in Ashburton in 2016.

The total prize is made up of $22 million from Powerball First Division and $333,333 from Lotto First Division.

The winning numbers were 4, 12, 18, 27, 33, 35, with a bonus number of 19 and a Powerball of 8.

Ticket holders from Papamoa and Ashburton were the next biggest winners splitting part of the first division prize and each winning $333,333.
