Tributes flow for Johnny 'Danger' Bennett, reportedly killed in a motorbike crash

Social media star Johnny Danger Bennett was reportedly killed in a motorbike crash in north Auckland on Wednesday.

Friends and fans of amateur stuntman and comedian Johnny 'Danger' Bennett have reacted with shock and grief to reports he died in a motorbike crash on Wednesday afternoon.

It's understood he had been part of an Anzac Day ride in north Auckland, friends said, with a large group of fellow motorcyclists before crashing on Dairy Flat Highway.

His friend Jackson O'Doherty, who had spoken to Bennett earlier that day, posted on Facebook that the stuntman had 'made the world a better place'.

'You've always been in a world of your own living life to the fullest like no one else does,' he wrote.

'In a world with so much hate and negativity you've made the world a better place over the years by making millions of people around the world smile and laugh by being yourself through your crazy antics and videos.'

Bennett was known for his risk-taking stunts and jokey videos; his Facebook page has more than 290,000 people following his antics.

Radio station George FM and music festival Rhythym and Vines both tweeted tributes to Bennett.

Many people spoke of the laughter and memories they had shared with him over the years.

Alice Brine paid tribute to the man behind the internet persona on Twitter.

'His snapchat person was one thing but in real life he was truly one of the most sharp, quick, kind, and caring dudes i ever met,' she tweeted.

Musician Kings tweeted that Bennett had 'built a legacy'.

This news came as such a shock to me .. still in shock. The bro bought so many together through his content, he was business savvy but most of all, was always grateful and thankful to all his supporters ! He built a legacy.

Isaac Bell and Tom Francis both posted on Facebook that they hoped news of Bennett's death was a 'sick joke'.

'But If this is really true I want to say thank you for being one of the most down to earth straight up people I've known,' wrote Francis.

'Johnny was unorthodox in so many ways and that's what made his success special,' posted Umberto Paolo Skinner on Facebook.
