Wednesday, 9 November 2022

The third-generation Peugeot 308 is the first to wear its new badge, and the first 308 to come with plug-in hybrid power.

Peugeot NZ has released pricing and specs of the new 308, and they all come with their new badge of honour.

The range will consist of three models with one of them being a PHEV for the first time ever. The two 1.2-litre petrol-powered models are available as either a $46.990 entry level Allure, or $51,990 high-spec GT. Meanwhile, the $74,990 GT Hybrid (arriving from January 2023) has a 1.6L PureTech 225 (165kW) plug-in hybrid drivetrain that allows up to 61km emissions-free driving in full electric mode.

All models qualify for rebates too, with the petrol twins getting $2,490 each, and the PHEV getting $5,750.

Handpicked to launch Peugeot’s new badge, the 308 sets the tone for the brand’s future models, with the brand evolving to offer a more premium ownership experience.

This third iteration of the 308 strikes a more powerful road-stance than its predecessors, boasting a sleeker silhouette courtesy of structure-hugging, aerodynamic bodywork affording a more distinctive, dynamic look.

New adaptive full-LED Matrix headlights and improved driving aids including a long-range blind spot monitoring system are among many fresh-for-Peugeot features, along with their latest-generation digital interfaces and connected infotainment system. The 10-inch central touchscreen makes it resolutely modern, and it’s complemented by the unique digital and configurable Peugeot i-Toggles shortcuts.

A key element of the brand’s design DNA is the i-Cockpit interior, with the compact steering wheel, high-end Alcantara and Nappa leather finish blending with plenty of technology for a premium driving experience.

Arek Zywot, Peugeot NZ Commercial Manager, says it is exciting to be launching the new 308 - one of the most efficient, high-end and technologically advanced offerings in the market’s compact family car class.

“The new 308 represents a premium evolution of the Peugeot brand, so customers wanting a stylish yet affordable contemporary European hatchback which stands out from the crowd, need look no further.

“And with the addition of the plug-in hybrid option for the first time, it is another significant step in our commitment to have an electrified variant of every new Peugeot model before 2025.”
