Crank up the brightness and exposure, and you can see a surprising amount of the new Ferrari Purosangue SUV.

We’ve heard about it for a long time now, but now Ferrari has finally given us our first official peek at its upcoming SUV, the Purosangue.

The Italian supercar manufacturer posted a dark image on its social media accounts this morning showing the face of the Purosangue (well, some of it, at least), along with its aggressive stance.

We cranked the brightness and exposure up a bit to reveal a surprisingly sculpted bonnet, some gaping intakes and a strangely EV-ish vibe to its look. Which we rather like.

Ferrari also posted the image on its website, along with some brief text: “A new, and very different Ferrari is coming. A car whose bloodline can be traced back through our 75-year history of innovation, evolution and uncompromising performance. Stand by for a genuine game changer. All will be revealed later this year.”

The image was captioned with “It’s happening” which sounds like a frustrated parent ending an argument with a grumpy child who just doesn’t want Ferrari to make an SUV, to be honest.

Rumours of the Italian manufacturer getting into the super-SUV game have swirled around for many years now, particularly following the success of Lamborghini’s Urus, and we first heard of the Purosangue back in 2017 when the company confirmed it was working on it.

Test mules were spotted in 2018, using jacked-up Ferrari GTC4Lusso bodies, while later versions were seen using Maserati Levante bodies, leading to speculation that the Purosangue would be heavily based on the Maserati SUV.

However, it later became apparent that the Purosangue would be based on Ferrari’s new front-mid-engine architecture, with both V12 and hybrid V6 engines expected, the latter being similar to the arrangement found in the 296 GTB.
