Stellantis will become electric-only in Europe from 2026
Thursday, 3 March 2022
Stellantis has confirmed plans to go completely electric in Europe by 2026 (and 50 per cent electric in the US), in a bid to reduce its carbon output by 50 per cent from current levels by 2030.
The ambitious goal was detailed by CEO Carlos Tavares, and called Dare 2030. It will have each of the company's 14 brands go pure-electric in the coming years, using a family of new EV platforms and advanced software architecture.
That means 100 new products between 2022 and 2030, which will apparently boost revenues by 72 per cent compared with 2021 levels.
'Stellantis will be the industry champion in climate-change mitigation, becoming carbon net-zero by 2038, with a 50 per cent reduction by 2030. Taking a leadership role in decarbonisation, as well as a decisive step forward in the circular economy, is our contribution to a sustainable future,” said Tavares.

A big part of this will come from Stellantis’ premium brands, namely Alfa Romeo, DS, Lancia and Maserati. From 2025, they will only launch new EVs, with ICE cars off the menu by 2030. Stellantis-wide, there will be 75 new EVs launched by 2030.
One of those models is the eagerly awaited all-electric Jeep, which was previewed at the same time as Dare 2030 was announced.
It looks to be around the same size as the Renegade, coming with heavily updated styling, and a new four-wheel drive system to take advantage of the electric powertrain. No other details were confirmed.
The off-roading EV will be launched early in 2023, and joined by an electric “lifestyle” SUV in 2024. Jeep's CEO, Christian Meunier, has already said the brand will add a pure-EV to “every major SUV segment by 2025, with “a few BEVs coming before Wrangler.”
Jeep’s first EV will also spawn a small Fiat crossover and an Alfa Romeo version at some point in the future.
Meanwhile, Ram will launch its electric pick-up around 2024, which will apparently outperform its primary rivals, the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet’s upcoming Silverado EV. But they all say that, don’t they?
Ram will also launch the ProMaster electric van in 2023. Hydrogen fuel-cell large vans will also start coming from Stellantis in 2024.
Stellantis also said it wants to expand its EV battery production capacity to 400GWh across the US and Europe. Tesla has previously announced plans to expand its production up to 3TWh by 2030, while its current output is around 50GWh.
