Man finds quick way to remove Christmas tree decorations, with his car
Friday, 3 December 2021
We all know that taking all the decorations down and getting rid of the tree after Christmas is the worst part of the new year, but a man in the USA has found an effortlessly fast way of doing both.
Although he has been charged with careless driving as a result. Plus, he’s also a bit early.
U.S. website Skook News “Schuykill County’s Online News Source” (yes, really. American place names are awesome) has reported that Clayton Eberly, 24, was charged with careless driving after he spectacularly took out Pottsville City’s Christmas tree in Pennsylvania earlier this week.
The video (that looks to be from a doorbell cam to us) shows an initially idyllic scene, with the tree glowing majestically in the middle of an intersection before Eberly’s car cruises into the frame and nails it square on. If only there was some kind of warning to alert him to its presence. Like lights, or something…

Anyway, after removing most of the decorations and effectively decapitating the tree with the impact, police were alerted to the crash and reported that he was distracted by his mobile phone, hence the careless driving charge.
And don’t worry – apparently the city is working on getting a new tree before Christmas. Maybe they could get Eberly to give them a hand taking it down after Christmas?
