Driver realises too late their caravan is too tall

We’ve all been there – you head into a situation and then realise “ohh… this isn’t going to work”. It’s usually not a huge problem, but for one driver in the USA, it certainly became one.
Posted in the endlessly-amusing “What could go wrong” subreddit on Reddit by user miragen125, this video shows just how quickly the driver went from “uh-oh” to “to hell with it” when they realised their mistake.
Heading into an underground carpark, the driver apparently realised their huge caravan was too tall to fit.
Quite how they didn’t have an inkling of this as he was heading under all the signs stating the height before the entrance, we aren’t too sure. It even has one of those ones dangling on a chain that would have hit the roof of the caravan as a ‘final’ warning too.

Neither are we clear on why they didn’t think his huge caravan might prove problematic even if they made it under the clearance…
Still, in the best tradition of large pick-up drivers they forged ahead until it was too late, then decided the only course of action was to back up. Into oncoming traffic on a busy multi-lane road.
While perhaps just popping the hazard lights on and calling the police for assistance might have been the smarter thing to do at this point, this clearly never entered the driver’s mind as they started backing towards the growing queue of cars behind them.
However, their backing skills badly let them down and things go from bad to very, very much worse very quickly as the caravan turns slightly and wedges itself against the pole supporting those overhead warning signs.
Now desperation sets in. Keep going backwards and destroy the side of the caravan? Yep, that seems best. Except now it’s properly stuck.
Next best course of action? Just power down and tear it off that damn barrier.
And now that the damage is done, let’s just keep going and ram it into the carpark entrance too. Didn’t need that rooftop air-conditioning unit anyway…
