Peugeot rebrands ahead of EVs landing in New Zealand

Thursday, 11 March 2021

Peugeot has rebranded for the first time in a decade, with its new logo a throwback to the 1960s.

Peugeot has revealed its new branding ahead of the local arrival of the hybrid 3008 SUV and all-electric versions of the 2008 and the new 208 hatchback which will arrive in New Zealand later this year.

The new logo drops the classic Peugeot lion in favour of putting just the head in a shield, like its old logo from the 1960s.

Peugeot NZ was among the first in the world to update the website for the new look, which it announced alongside news of a new “state-of-the-art showroom” coming soon in Greenlane, Auckland.

According to the local arm, the new design “signifies the coming of an ultra-modern era where low emissions vehicles play an increasing focus for Peugeot after a significant phase of research and development over the last 10 years.”

Four new models are coming from the French brand this year, including the 3008 Hybrid4 due next month, before the e-208 hatchback and e-2008 SUV land in the third quarter. The new 5008 medium SUV is also due this year.

On top of the new design and fresh models, the boss of Peugeot New Zealand, Chris Brown, announced that February 2021 was the company’s strongest ever month in New Zealand with 174 units sold.

The result shows a 40 per cent growth in Peugeot’s market share compared with the same month last year.

“We’re understandably very excited and would like to thank not only our dealer partners but also everyone who purchased a new Peugeot during the month,” said Brown.
