Honda New Zealand announces shake-up to sales approach
Thursday, 11 February 2021
After confirming the next-gen Jazz will launch here, Honda New Zealand has announced a major shake-up to its agency model network.
The changes will allow customers to purchase new cars directly from Honda, either in a Honda dealership or using a new e-commerce platform.
“Our independent Honda agents have served the Honda brand incredibly well over many years, and we have greatly valued these relationships during this era,” said Honda New Zealand’s Managing Director, Mr Nobuya Sonoda.
“The changes we are embarking on in 2021 are about actively managing our operations to ensure they are fit for the future and are reflective of Honda’s long-term commitment to continue investing in our people, operations and our communities,” said Sonoda.

“By making these changes we are placing our customers at the heart of everything we do, and importantly, putting the purchasing power where it belongs - in the hands of our customers. There is a lot to look forward to this year, including the recent launch of our exciting new Honda concept store in the Nelson/Tasman region,” Sonoda added.
There are seven Honda New Zealand-owned branches, with 17 independently owned agents. The changes announced will see centres serviced by independent agents transition to three new store types:
Honda Stores: where customers can experience and purchase Honda vehicles. The sale of the new Honda will be directly with Honda New Zealand - not an independent agent. Offering customers full servicing, Honda genuine parts and accessories.
Honda Service Stores: for servicing Honda vehicles, Honda genuine parts and accessories. These stores will also have a number of popular Honda demonstrator vehicles available and accommodate an appointed Honda New Zealand Brand Ambassador, authorised to sell Honda vehicles.
Authorised Service Stores: for servicing Honda vehicles using only genuine Honda parts and accessories.
The changes will come into effect from May 1, 2021.
