The Holden purge begins

The Holden brand continues to slowly disappear beyond the new car market horizon.

General Motors announced the retirement of the brand earlier this year and a recent development has been the removal of new vehicle information from the Holden New Zealand website.

New car and light commercial model lines including pricing and buying tools had remained on the website while Holden shifted the last of its new vehicle stock, which continued to play a significant role in the local market.

In August there were 355 new Holdens registered and the brand still ranked number nine in the New Zealand market.

The updated Holden New Zealand website is now the destination for vehicle servicing, parts, recall and warranty information. But you can research new models as a link on the site redirects you to the new GM Specialty Vehicles website.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pick-up content features there and you can also sign-up to register interest in the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

Right-hand-drive production plans for the mid-engine C8 Corvette remain in place in spite of Holden’s demise. The website confirms Corvette is coming to New Zealand in 2021 and interested buyers can register for updates. There’s no word on Corvette pricing yet.
