Mitsubishi reveals new Triton special edition
Tuesday, 25 August 2020
Thanks to Covid-19, Fieldays 2020 didn’t happen but Mitsubishi still got into the spirit of the annual rural business showcase with a special edition Triton ute for the New Zealand market.
Promoted with a $39,990 plus GST (and on-road costs) price, the Triton GLS Black Edition builds on the specification of the double cab GLX-R 4WD automatic model.
An exterior makeover includes a blackout package that comprises 18-inch black finish alloy wheels along with a black grille, lower bumper garnish, black LED headlamp surrounds and black dynamic shield treatment.
The black motif also extends to the door mirrors, side steps and rear step bumper.

Meanwhile, inside is an orange stitched four-spoke leather steering wheel and gear knob along with a charcoal/black sports cloth seat trim.
Along with the new cosmetics, the Black Edition gets a bunch of features from the flagship Triton VRX 4WD model. Think the Super Select II 4WD transmission (with four off-road drive modes), the multi-around view monitor camera system and the extended advanced safety suite including hill descent control, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert functions.
Also making the move from the VRX are dual-zone climate control, LED headlights with auto high beam control and push button engine start.
While Pitch Black is the default choice, the Triton Black Edition is also available in Graphite Grey and Sun Flare Orange. A new shade of White Diamond is an exclusive colour for the special edition. We’d stick with the black though.
