Polestar starts production of Polestar 2

Polestar has begun production of the Polestar 2, it's all-electric performance fastback. A nice post-isolation present, maybe?
The Polestar 2 will have a 78kWh battery, enough for around 470km of range, powering two motors for all-wheel drive. Power is rated at 300kW and 660Nm which should be enough to send the Polestar 2 to 100kmh in less than five seconds.
According to the release, Polestar 2 is also the world's first car to feature a built-in infotainment system powered by Android, featuring Google Maps, Google Assistant and the Google Play Store.
Based on Volvo's adaptable Compact Modular Architecture platform (CMA), the Polestar 2's 27-module battery pack is integrated into the floor and contributes to the rigidity of the chassis as well as improves the car's noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels - Polestar says road noise has been reduced by 3.7 dB compared to a traditional chassis.

If you want, a Performance Pack that adds Ohlins dampers, Brembo brakes and unique 20-inch forged alloy wheels will be available as an optional extra.
'The world is facing enormous upheaval in the face of the coronavirus pandemic,' said Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath.
'We start production now under these challenging circumstances, with a strong focus on the health and safety of our people.
'This is a great achievement and the result of huge efforts from the staff in the factory and the team securing the supply chain.

As with all Polestar cars, the Polestar 2 will only be available for ordering online, with a 'guide purchase price' for the launch version being 59,900 euros (NZ$99,590) and subscription pricing to follow at a later date.
Deliveries to customers are due to begin in the summer of 2020 on a market-by-market basis, starting in Europe and followed by China and North America. There's no word yet on if New Zealand will get the hot fastback.
