Ford Ranger gets improved connectivity rangewide
Thursday, 13 February 2020
Ford New Zealand has confirmed the entire Ranger line-up will get FordPass Connect by the middle of this year.
FordPass Connect uses a modem embedded in the vehicle and brings an array of remote vehicle functionality like remote unlock/lock, remote start, vehicle status and remote vehicle monitoring.
That last one will allow owners to check their vehicle's key variables including fuel level, tyre pressures (where tyre pressure monitoring system is fitted) and mileage through the convenience of their smartphone.
Owners will also be able to access live traffic updates, vehicle locator, vehicle health alerts and more.

The technology pairs with the FordPass smartphone app, giving owners access to key vehicle information like recent service history, the owners' manual as well as access to roadside assistance.
'Ranger continues to lead the way in so many categories. By giving customers access to new technologies that make their lives easier, Ranger with the powerful combination of the FordPass App and FordPass Connect modem takes this yet another step further,' said Simon Rutherford, Managing Director, Ford New Zealand.
'Ranger and FordPass bring innovation, best-in-class features and real-world convenience to New Zealand's most popular new vehicle.'
FordPass will also be available on the seven-seater Everest from mid-2020, like the Ranger.
