Actor Owain Rhys Davies has died at the age of 44.
The Cardiff-born performer was known for his work in television and film, including a role as Agent Wilson in the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks. He also appeared in Netflix series The OA, the film Alice Through The Looking Glass and horror comedy A Serial Killer’s Guide To Life.
His death was announced by his brother, Rhodri, who said Davies had died “suddenly, naturally, and peacefully”.
In a message shared on Instagram, Rhodri said he was “incredibly proud” of his brother and acknowledged the impact his death would have on those who knew him.
“We know that this loss will be felt by a great many people, and we take comfort in knowing how loved he was,” he said.
Rhodri also referred to “questions that remain unanswered regarding the circumstances of his death”, but asked for privacy and did not provide further details.
Messages of remembrance were shared by organisations connected to Davies’ career, including the official Twin Peaks social media account.
“Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him,” a statement said. “Thank you for being a part of the world of Twin Peaks, Agent Wilson.”
The Welsh National Theatre described Davies as “a remarkable talent whose work enriched Welsh theatre and screen”.
“His passion, creativity, and dedication to his craft made a lasting impact on the cultural life of Wales,” the organisation said.
“The Welsh performing arts community is poorer for his loss, and we can only imagine the many more stories he would have gone on to tell.
“Cysga’n dawel, Owain.”
