A buyer who spent $1.009 million on The Block's winning house this year is offering it up for someone else to live in.

Amy and Stu's house at 27 Frances Bryers Rd, Hobsonville, attracted the highest price under the hammer when the television programme's properties sold earlier this month.

The couple finished the season of the show with winnings of $169,500.

Now the three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse is listed for rent on Trade Me at $820 a week. It is described as having an 'elegant and vibrant' colour scheme, modern kitchen and open plan living, dining and kitchen area.

'This property is definitely the best on the block,' the advertisement reads.

'We are looking for house proud tenants to call this famous fully furnished property home.

Last year's winners of The Block NZ, Amy Moore and Stu Watts, pocketed $169,500, far less than some of the previous victors on the renovation competition.

'Each bedroom has its own unique features and details. The master bedroom has a walk in wardrobe plus an ensuite. In the children's bedroom there secret loft space above which could be utilised as a study or a place to relax.'

Property manager Shannon Anstis, from Ray White Austar Property Services, said the property was bought by a friend of a Ray White agent who planned to keep it as a rental property.

The purchase settlement was not until the end of the month but already she had received an application from a prospective tenant.

She said there was strong demand for rental properties in the suburb. 'Hobsonville Point is a well sought-after area. I've had a lot of inquiry, I think it will get rented very fast.'

Would-be tenants are asked to register their interest in a viewing.

The property is one of the more expensive for rent in Hobsonville, but not the dearest.

Trade Me spokeswoman Millie Silvester said the house fetched 50,297 views while it was up for sale on the site.

'Given the huge interest in this high-profile listing, we think there will be a lot of interest in renting this property from Kiwis keen to get a glimpse of what the townhouses look like off screen.'

She said the median weekly rent in Waitakere City for a medium-sized house in August was $550. 'Clearly this townhouse is very high spec, brand new, fully furnished and it's in a very desirable area so it will command a premium price.'
