Person's body found in water north of Waihi Beach

A person's body has been found in the water in the Western Bay of Plenty.

The body was found near the rocks at Homunga Bay, north of Waihi Beach.

Police were notified around 2.20pm on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said enquiries were under way to identify the person and notify their next of kin.
