Check your back pocket, $7.2M could be yours

Silverdale Pak'nSave owner Vinod Bhaga says his staff were excited to have sold the lucky ticket.

A lucky Kiwi is yet to discover a cool $7.2 millon in their back pocket, with the winner of two Lotto first divisions yet to check their ticket.

The lucky Powerball and Lotto player purchased from Pak'nSave Silverdale on Wednesday.

The winning ticket was made up of $7 million from Powerball First Division and $200,000 from Lotto First Division.

Pak'nSave Silverdale's owner and operator Vinod Bhaga said he found out the winning ticket was purchased from his store on Thursday morning.

Pak'nSave Silverdale sold the winning $7.2M Powerball ticket.

'The team has been buzzing all day. We are really excited because this is the first major win for our store.'

Bhaga said Lotto is very popular and well supported at Pak'nSave Silverdale.

This is the first time the store has sold a 1st division winning ticket.

'We get a lot of regulars who come in and shop, and then buy a ticket on the way out. We really hope it is a lucky local who brought the ticket.

'We hope the winner comes into store and checks their ticket so we can give them a big bunch of flowers and a big bottle of bubbles,' Bhaga said.

A lucky Lotto player has won $7.2 million dollars from Silverdale.

Last night, four other Lotto players in Lower Hutt, Nelson, Christchurch and Gore, each won $200,000 with Lotto First Division, and Strike Four was won by two players in Waitako and Tauranga. They each took home $50,000 from purchasing their tickets from the MyLotto app.

Pak'nSave Silverdale had sold a few lucky tickets in the past four years, with one customer winning $333,333 in First Division Lotto, another winning the top prize of $100,000 in the Stack of Cash Instant Kiwi, and two winning second division, $30,000 Lottos.

There are two Lotto retailers in Silverdale, the other being Countdown Silverdale. Countdown Silverdale sold a $500,000 Lotto First Division prize in September 2017.

In the past two years, First Division Lotto, Powerball and Strike tickets sold have been successful in Rodney.

Overall Rodney retailers have sold seven Lotto First Division tickets, four Powerball and three Strike tickets.

Lotto New Zealand's Kirsten Robinson said it is still waiting for the lucky winner to claim their prize.

'Lotto New Zealand urges anyone who bought a ticket for Wednesday's draw at Pak'nSave Silverdale writes their name on the back of the ticket and checks it immediately in-store, online at MyLotto, or through the Lotto New Zealand App.
