Train line open so rugby fans can get to Eden Park test
Saturday, 9 June 2018
Thousands of rugby fans will now be able to get to the test match against France at Eden Park with the re-opening of western train lines.
The trains were halted on Friday after a truck crashed into power lines at the intersection of Boston and Normanby roads in Mt Eden, resulting in a stop to services.
The accident occurred around 2pm leaving commuters in Auckland stranded.
But Mark Hannan of Auckland Transport (AT) has confirmed that KiwiRail completed repairs to the lines overnight.
'There will be no impact to rugby crowds,' he said.
Police have also assured there will be no disruption to traffic in the area.
There were no reported injuries.
The match kicks-off at 7.30pm.
