Their behind the scenes feuding was the stuff of legend, but it seems former Charmed co-stars Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano have finally buried the hatchet.

The pair starred alongside Holly Marie Combs as three witchy sisters in the supernatural soapie, which debuted in 1998.

Doherty left the show at the end of the third season, amid rumours of tension with Milano in particular. Rose McGowan was drafted in to 'replace' Doherty, albeit as a new character. Charmed would last five more seasons before wrapping in 2006.

In a 2013 interview, Milano said of Doherty that "we were on the air with her for three years, and there were definitely some rough days".

Four years later, the actress reveals that the pair have started to build bridges - thanks to social media.

"Shannen and I talk a lot on Twitter via [direct message]," she told E!.

"And I spoke to her maybe two or three days ago, and we decided that we're going to get together. That date has not been set yet, but yes!"

Milano, 44, said time had softened the edges of their historic feud.

"I think we're just at ages now that what happens 15 years ago, or however long ago that was, it's irrelevant," she admitted.

"I think that what she has gone through, [and] motherhood in my life, I think it just changes people. I'm so happy that she's feeling well. I prayed for her every day that she would feel well and I can't wait to see her."

She's referring to her former co-star's public battle with cancer - Doherty, 46, recently finished chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.

"Cancer, for me, as hard as it is, has been a blessing. It has changed who I am as a human being forever. It's altered my life in ways I can't even speak of," she said in March.
